The Appellation Fitou belongs to oldest in the Languedoc-Roussillon. The Greeks were the first settlers who brought the wine to Fitou. Fitou is famous for its red wines but you should also taste the Muscat.
A good occasion to get a delicious overview is the annual wine festival, la Fête du Vin, taking place in Fitou on the first weekend in August. During the festival, all wine makers and – traders open their doors and a multicoloured spectacle keeps the village awake for 24 hours.
You can buy wine everywhere in Fitou and surroundings directly from the winegrower or in the cooperatives.
